How to do your own Year Ahead Tarot Reading
First things first. New Year does not happen on January 1st in my world.
In Claire’s world it starts on my birthday so that is when I do my own Year Ahead Reading. If you’re new here, Hi, I’m Claire, a rebel that does not follow the crowd, I rarely (if ever) do what I am told and always follows natures lead with the cycles and shifts in my year rather than the white mans calendar.
I offer year ahead readings all year round but I find they peak around December/ January (no shade - its the winter solstice so that also makes complete sense), but its also a popular choice at Samhain (or more precisely Nov 1st - Witches new year). Spring equinox also feels like a new beginning vibe. But you do you. I personally love reading ‘birthday cards’.
In this blog I’m giving you my top tips to craft a ritual around pulling your cards for the year ahead.
Let’s get into it:
Take your time - Schedule at least an hour to sit with your cards
Get cosy - Light candles or incense & have a mug of something warming
Get inspired - Bring a vision board into it, gather your astrology info or take a look at the animal of the lunar year
Tune into you - Invite your intuition to guide you - Slow down, meditate, tune out any distractions
Be intentional - Decide if you’re going to read one card at a time or lay them all out in front of you
Choose a layout - Will you include a ‘key to the year card’ or keep to a simple 12 card monthly spread?
Shuffle your cards - Ask for the guidance you need for your highest good
Allow your intuition to guide you with the message of each card first
Journal - What does the card make you think of? What memories, emotions, bodily responses & inner dialogue is present?
Seek guidance from the guidebook or online resources for any further insights
Record your card of the month on a calendar or pop it on your altar as a reminder. Revisit your journaling ahead of every month
Whenever you choose to do your year ahead reading its important to keep it alive and weave it through your year to guide you.
